Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: What are the first wave of new courses?

Nintendo shocked the gaming world recently by stating they were going to be releasing 48 new courses into the existing Mario Kart 8 as part of a DLC package for the Nintendo Switch.

Mario Kart 8 was named the best selling racing game ever in 2021, surpassing one of its previous titles – Mario Kart Wii, so it’s of no surprise that Nintendo felt the games cycle wasn’t over as of yet. Hence the addition of DLC.

The DLC is titled the ‘Booster Course Pass’ and is available on the Nintendo Store for users as a standalone purchase for £22.49. Not bad for 48 new courses.

The first wave of eight courses which are made up of two cups was released on Friday 18th March 2022. Let’s take a look at what they consist of.

The first wave of courses available via the DLC are as follows:

Eight courses are planned to be released in each wave, all of which will be delivered to Booster Course Pass owners by the end of 2023. 

All tracks are to be remastered from old games, as we can see from the selection above.

Nintendo has really gone all out with this first wave of courses, with some real fan favourites making a return.

Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64 is up there in the Mario Kart hall of fame, so with this being playable for the first time since 1996 – this has put a lot of smiles on fans’ faces.

Coconut Mall from Mario Kart Wii is also a welcome return for many fans, with this being one of the most popular courses on the Wii’s instalment of the game by far.

However – some aren’t happy already with some of the changes. Many are questioning why Nintendo have removed the beloved Mii’s in the car park and the huge changes to the escalators located inside of the mall.
