Marcus Rashford transfer update as Man United 'get shock Arsenal contact'

Manchester United have reportedly received contact from Arsenal in regards a move for Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window.

Rashford finds himself firmly out of favour in the United squad after a difficult month at Old Trafford. In mid-December he was dropped from the team that travelled to Manchester City in the Premier League.

A few days later, an interview with Rashford was released where the winger claimed he would be willing to seek a new challenge away from Old Trafford. After that, Rashford found himself out of the squads that lost to Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He would return to the bench in the last game of 2024 at home to Newcastle but on Sunday missed the game at Liverpool due to illness. In the meantime, his agent and brother Dane has reportedly been in Italy trying to find a move for Rashford.

AC Milan appear to be the favourite but in conversation with Sky Italia, journalist Massimo Marianella claims the Serie A giants now face competition from Arsenal for his signature. "It seems that Arsenal have made a phone call to Manchester United for Rashford," Marianella claims, [via Sport Witness].

"The club has valued him at €25m (£20.9m)." Arsenal have been linked with a move for Rashford in the past.

As recently as last summer, the Gunners were thought to be keen on signing Rashford if he became available but that eventuality never occurred. Now it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make their interest formal in terms of a bid and if they would be open to either a loan deal or permanent move.
