Marcus Rashford to PSG transfer point raised as Kylian Mbappe comparison made

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre believes Marcus Rashford would do well if he moved to Paris Saint-German, but would struggle to fill the void left by Kylian Mbappe.

The England international has struggled for much of the season with just eight goals across all competitions after scoring a career-best 30 goals in 2022/23. Rashford's struggles at Old Trafford have seen him linked with a summer exit amid recent claims that almost the entire United squad is up for sale this summer.

PSG have recently been linked with the 26-year-old after tentative interest two years ago. The French champion's potential interest may intensify this summer with star forward Mbappe set to leave the Parc des Princes to join Spanish giants Real Madrid.

And Silvestre has backed Rashford to be a success in Ligue 1 if he made the move to Paris. However, he acknowledges that the Englishman has a long way to go before being compared to World Cup winner Mbappe.

“If Marcus decides to go to PSG, it would be good for Paris and I’m sure he will do well over there in Ligue 1," he told bettingexpert.com.

"Paris will be in the Champions League next season as well. They would be happy to have him. Will he replace Mbappe? Mbappe is Ballon d’Or level so Marcus still has a lot to do to get to that level. It’s not quite the same.”
