Marcus Rashford reveals the meaning behind his Manchester United goal celebration

Marcus Rashford has told Rio Ferdinand the meaning of his now-famous Manchester United goal celebration.

Rashford has been an integral part of United's post-World Cup success, his 16 goals in 17 games since the return helping the Reds to continue to compete in all four competitions. Erik ten Hag's side have cemented their place in the top four with just one defeat in that time and could be crowned Carabao Cup winners by the end of the week.

After proving his big-game influence with the winner at home to Manchester City and goals against Barcelona, Leeds and Leicester, the 25-year-old will be hoping to find the net in Sunday's final and will recreate a now-famous celebration if he does. Rashford has celebrated his goals this season by pointing to his temple - a trademark that people all over the world have been imitating since.

"Rashford, I found out today, by the way, I went to Carrington today to interview Bruno [Fernandes]," Ferdinand told his Vibe with FIVE YouTube show. "It was good. I saw [long-serving receptionist] Kath [Phillips], been there 56 years the lady! Ridiculous!

"But the celebration, it’s mentality. Nice, innit. Simple. But it’s just travelled massively. Everyone around the world is doing it now. All the young kids scoring goals, that’s the impact Rashford has had."

The former Reds defender added: "Seeing Marcus just smiling – I’ve said this so many times – just seeing him smile, there’s a different vibe about him. He’s enjoying himself, there’s a spring in his step. I had a nice chat, it was nice. Nice vibes in the place."
