Marcus Rashford explains Manchester United goal celebration vs Tottenham after Roy Keane comments

Marcus Rashford says his talking hand gesture celebration against Tottenham was in response to the criticism he received from some social media users for commenting on Jadon Sancho’s Instagram post upon the winger's loan return to Borussia Dortmund.

The Manchester United forward netted his fourth goal of the season 40 minutes into the club’s 2-2 draw with Spurs before producing his celebration. While on punditry duty for Sky Sports, former Reds captain Roy Keane believed the gesture was in response to criticism of his poor form this season.

Keane said: "We have seen it before that he's got the quality. Why he seems to be upset with everybody, he's got to go out and enjoy his football. That's not good enough [one home goal since May]. With his talent and what he can do, he can twist people up. That's what he should be doing. Don't complain."

However, Rashford has responded to one social media user who correctly outlined what the celebration was actually referring to. The tweet said: “He's clearly referring to the abuse he's been subjected to this week since he commented on Sancho's post.

“They literally questioned his loyalty and commitment to us, and he did shut them up by scoring AND assisting. If he didn't score, he's *****, if he does it's this BS smh." Rashford commented under the post, saying: “Thank you for clarifying this matter.”
