Marcel Sabitzer confirms stance on Manchester United future

Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has confirmed that he would be interested in making his loan move from Bayern Munich permanent in the summer.

Sabitzer joined United on transfer deadline day following an injury to Christian Eriksen and has proved a valuable addition to Erik ten Hag's squad.

Last week he scored twice in the 2-2 Europa League draw against Sevilla. However, the 29-year-old had to withdraw from the starting XI against Nottingham Forest on Sunday due to injury and is now a doubt for the second leg in Spain this week.

In an interview with Bild from before the Forest game, Sabitzer opened up on where he sees his future next season.

"United had clearly communicated during the loan: This is initially a project until the summer, then we'll see," he explained. "Until then, I want to give everything here. It's a loan deal with no options.

"The situation will be assessed in the summer. But I can say for myself, I have found my place here. I know the Premier League now and I can say there is nothing better, more intense and tougher. Every game is a fight, everything goes faster. This is the best league in the world. Once you've played here, you know, it's incomparable here."

Pushed on whether this meant he would be open to joining United permanently, Sabitzer added: "Of course my thoughts on United - especially looking at how things are going, the confidence I get from Erik ten Hag - are very positive.

"But I don't have to decide it alone. I'll be a Bayern player again from July 1, 2023, that's what the contract says. There will certainly also be a conversation with Thomas Tuchel. I'm not stuck in any direction.
