Manchester United youngster Dermot Mee signs new deal

Manchester United youngster Dermot Mee has signed a new deal with the club.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper has plenty of experience training with the first-team squad in recent years and has gained further experience on a number of different loan moves.

Mee has already spent short-term loans at the Fulham Academy, Trafford FC, Runcorn Linnets, and Witton Albion during his time at United. He also enjoyed a work experience loan at AFC Wimbledon, and he has represented Northern Ireland at youth level.

Earlier this year, he also joined National League side Altrincham on an emergency loan basis, where he made four league appearances for the first-team.

Mee was part of the young United side that travelled to San Diego in the summer for a training camp and pre-season friendly against Wrexham but didn't get onto the pitch. Nathan Bishop started the match but was replaced by Radek Vitek.

His contract extension comes at a time of massive change for United in the goalkeeping department. David de Gea and Bishop both left the club this summer, while Dean Henderson is close to completing a move to Crystal Palace.

Ten Hag spent £47.2m on a deal to sign Andre Onana from Inter and the club are poised to complete the transfer of Altay Bayındır from Fenerbache in the final days of the summer window.
