Roy Keane has already made his view clear on Manchester United's deadline day signing

Former Old Trafford captain Roy Keane has already questioned the ability of new Manchester United signing Sergio Reguilon.

Erik ten Hag made the move to bring in the full-back after seeing Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia suffer injuries this season. Initially, the Reds went after Chelsea's Marc Cucurella but the loan fee and the lack of a January break clause proved a stumbling block.

The Reds switched their attention to Reguilon and confirmed his arrival on deadline day. The full-back has been out of favour at Spurs and was the subject of a heated debate between Keane and ex Tottenham man Jamie Redknapp in 2021.

Keane explained on Sky Sports: "Tottenham have got so many average players. We talk about the pressure Spurs are under to get in the top four but if you take [Harry] Kane and Son [Heung-Min] out of that team they are average."

When Redknapp brought up the fact Reguilon was a good left-back, Keane bit back: "Is that why Real Madrid let him go? Why did Real Madrid let him go?"

The former Liverpool man was keen to stick up for the defender and replied: "Does that matter? Just because Real Madrid let him go doesn't make him a good player? He's a fantastic left-back."

United's new man has struggled since joining Spurs and spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid. He only made 12 appearances in the Spanish capital and will be hoping for a greater impact at the Theatre of Dreams. He could make his debut against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.
