Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho has chance to respond to Erik ten Hag doubt

Manchester United fans serenaded Alejandro Garnacho as he warmed up at Turf Moor in the second half at the weekend.

The 'Viva Garnacho' chant echoed around the ground and it appeared to be a request to see the youngster on the pitch, especially when considering the indecisive Marcus Rashford was struggling on the left wing again.

Those calls for Garnacho to replace Rashford were ignored and Erik ten Hag explained that decision after the game. "He (Garnacho) was in against Munich and I thought our team was playing very well," Ten Hag said.

"So I wouldn’t change that tonight because this game was a demand to keep that organisation. That's why I wouldn't change. I saw the players were still capable and the fitness levels were good and the energy was still there, it was only 1-0.

"I wouldn't change that because I also know that Burnley in one moment and in this moment where everything is against us - we have seen again a disallowed goal. I don’t want to say if it is the right decision or wrong decision.

"But again there was a moment that was not on our side. I wanted to avoid that and keep this team on because they did well."

It was interesting that Ten Hag explained his decision to keep Garnacho as an unused substitution to 'keep the organisation' of the team when Rashford is hardly known for his work rate and helping the full-back on his side.

Rashford's work rate has been magnified this season because of his slow start and it's fair to suggest the structure of the team wouldn't have been detrimentally affected if he'd been brought off.
