Erik ten Hag may soon have to place more trust in two Manchester United prospects

Manchester United will forever be known as a club devoted to giving young players their big break on the world stage.

The Class of 92, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are just some of the most high-profile examples of giving youth a chance and nurturing their talents both on and off the pitch. The same can be said for two of United's newest shining new lights, with Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri both handed chances by Erik ten Hag already this season.

But neither have been handed a consistent run of games and Ten Hag might lack trust in the two wingers. He has often thrown down the gauntlet to both for big occasions, none more so than handing Pellistri his full debut at the Allianz Arena in September against Bayern Munich.

It is seemingly that trust that is preventing the South American from excelling this season, with their bit-part performances an indication as to the chop and change nature being seen week in, week out. Former Atletico star Garnacho recently signed a new deal at Old Trafford, securing his long-term future to the club, but has struggled for form.

With huge games to come, and uncertainty around both Jadon Sancho and Antony, the time for Garnacho and Pellistri to step up to the plate has never been more perfectly laid out. Rasmus Hojlund's two-goal showing against the Turkish giants in midweek shows that when the chance comes you must grab it with both hands. The stage is set, and there really is no time like the present for United's newest batch of generational stars.
