Manchester United 'weighing up swap move for Antony' and other transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a surprise swap deal for Antony after a difficult start to life in the Premier League.

Having began strongly, the 23-year-old's form has started to dwindle ever since and this season has been a particular struggle. After 11 appearances, Antony has yet to register a goal or an assist for the Reds and questions are being raised regarding his place in the team.

So much so, United are now thought to be looking at part exchange loan move for Antony in January to build his confidence again. The Daily Mirror understands Erik ten Hag is wanting to sign Gabriel Barbosa from Flamengo and in turn send the Reds' winger to South America in return.

Barbosa scored 20 goals in 55 appearances last season for the Brazilian side and the 27-year-old has previously featured in European football with Inter Milan and Benfica but both stints were short and largely fruitless. It is understood Flamengo are open to bringing Antony to their club in the winter.

Elsewhere, United are believed to have entered the race for Barcelona target and Real Betis defensive midfielder Guido Rodriguez. According to Estadio Deportivo, the 29-year-old is increasingly unlikely to sign a new contract at the La Liga club with his deal set to expire at the end of the campaign.

Xavi is thought to have been impressed with Rodriguez and is willing to offer him a deal to strengthen their midfield. But, it is now claimed United are interested in the Argentine as a replacement for Casemiro.

United's Adidas home shirt is made up of the same colour of the city's iconic red rose and features a black collar.
