Manchester United vs Man City live updates plus squad news from Manchester derby

Manchester United will take on Man City in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

It's the first Manchester derby of the new season and United head into the game after three consecutive wins against Brentford, Sheffield United and F.C. Copenhagen, which will give fans hope for a positive result.

United have certainly not been at their best and City, who have conceded the fewest goals in the league, will be challenging opponents despite showing glimmers of weakness themselves this campaign.

Pep Guardiola's side were defeated against Arsenal prior to the international break, but the Blues have returned to action with wins over Brighton and BSC Young Boys and they are favourites to win the derby.

The game will kick-off at 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon and the life of Sir Bobby Charlton will be celebrated before the game, with a minute’s applause and expressions of fan remembrance with flags and surfer banners prepared.

Regarding the team news, Casemiro is facing a race against time to be fit for the match, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka returned to full training on Friday and he's expected to be named in the matchday squad.

Kevin de Bruyne is still sidelined with a hamstring injury and is expected to return in the New Year.

Mason Mount was an unused substitute in midweek and hasn’t really set the world alight at United yet. He was billed as a potential big game player, particularly in a right wing role, and it will be interesting to see whether Ten Hag puts his faith in him or not today.

Eric Cantona is in town though it remains to be seen if he will be at the game. He was in Manchester the week of the last Old Trafford derby back in January as well.
