Ruben Dias says Man City's best is never enough after Manchester United win

Manchester City's best can never be enough in the eyes of their critics, Ruben Dias believes.

City have won back-to-back Premier League games and three in a row in all competitions after a run of three defeats in four recently to get their campaign back on track. Sunday saw them outplay Manchester United at Old Trafford to earn the local bragging rights, in a performance that has been hailed as one of their best in the derby away from home.

However, defender Dias says that City are becoming victims of their own success when it comes to how they are viewed externally, and says they cannot rely on previous successes if they want to win more titles this season.

“l think generally in life the more you win the more successful you are and more and more people try to bring you down and look for flaws," he said.

"Every year, we need to do it again and be that good again if we want to win anything. It’s about overcoming ourselves. We know how good we are but that will never be enough. We will always need to get better and come back again and do what we do best. If we relax and stay in the comfort of what we’ve done in the past, we won’t win anything.

"We know it, we’ve done it before, and we know which way we have to go. We know what we set ourselves for and what the club sets itself for – we know what we are pursuing, and we know how difficult it is and how good we have to be every day, in training and in every game that comes up.
