Manchester United Under-18s win league title and beat rivals Man City to trophy

Manchester United's Under-18s have been officially crowned the Premier League North champions.

The U18s have taken their division by storm this season and sealed the title with a 2-1 victory over Wolves on Tuesday thanks to two goals from Gabriele Biancheri.

Manchester City have chased United for the majority of the campaign, but they are now 16 points behind with just five games left to play, which confirmed their fate as runners-up.

Tuesday afternoon's game was played at Wolves and there were joyous celebrations after the final whistle, with the youngsters punching the air and embracing each other.

United have enjoyed a tremendous season. Remarkably, they were unbeaten in the league until March and that defeat against City is still their only loss.

The only blemish on the win which confirmed United as champions was the substitution of goalkeeper Elyh Harrison, who was replaced due to injury by Tom Myles.

United last won the U18 league in 2017/18 and Adam Lawrence's side has been the club's biggest success story this year amid a run of difficult results for the first team.

Lawrence has been praised for his tactical acumen and the U18s have played attractive, attacking football, which has seen them score the most goals in the league (74).

United have also conceded the second-fewest goals (24) and they have been head and shoulders above the opposition on their way to the title.

Biancheri has scored 10 goals in 10 starts in the league and his goals, along with Ethan Williams' and Ethan Wheatley's, have been crucial in firing the team to the title.
