Manchester United transfer news LIVE Frenkie de Jong latest as club 'in talks' to sign Ajax trio

New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag took training for the very first time yesterday as the club got its pre-season preparations under way at Carrington.

Almost 30 players took part in a session that lasted more than two hours, as Ten Hag started to implement his plans and get his players used to his methods. Senior figures including David de Gea, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford took part in the session, while no shortage of youngsters were also included.

The rest of the squad will report back to Carrington in the near future, ahead of the squad flying out to Thailand for their pre-season tour on July 8. However, Ten Hag will not have any new signings to work with over the coming days unless anything changes soon.

United are yet to complete their first signing of the summer transfer window, meaning frustrations among the fans are beginning to mount. However, the club is understood to be moving in the right direction in its attempts to bring Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford from Barcelona.
