Manchester United transfer news LIVE Erik ten Hag to Man Utd update, Frenkie de Jong latest

Erik ten Hag's arrival as Manchester United manager is moving ever nearer, and the incoming boss is set for a busy summer in the transfer window.

Ten Hag brought his time at Ajax to an end on Sunday as he took charge of his final game with the Eredivisie champions, and he has already turned his attention to the job lying in wait at Old Trafford.

The 52-year-old looks set to arrive in Manchester soon, having revealed he won't be taking a holiday anytime soon, nor will he be joining Ajax on an end-of-season trip to celebrate their title win.

Instead, he'll be getting down to work with United as he begins his big rebuild, with a number of players expected to be coming and going during the summer - among them could be Frenkie de Jong, with Barcelona issuing another update over the weekend after United made contact over his potential availability.

Barcelona’s director of football Mateu Alemany has insisted the club are yet to make a decision on Frenkie de Jong’s future amid interest from Manchester United.

United have made an approach to the Catalan club over De Jong's potential availability this summer as they weigh up a move for the midfielder.

Barca boss Xavi has fuelled the suggestions De Jong could be heading to Old Trafford after admitting his future was out of his hands, although Alemany insists the club haven't made a decisive call yet.

We haven't made any decisions on the squad, De Jong is important for us.

We are clear about what we need, and also that we are conditioned by financial fair play.

Juventus have emerged as strong favourites to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United on a free transfer for the second time, according to reports.
