Manchester United transfer news LIVE Cristiano Ronaldo latest and Raphael Varane injury updates

Erik ten Hag received the blessing of Cristiano Ronaldo on Friday as the Portuguese star looks ahead to the future under his new manager.

Ten Hag has overseen plenty of change already since taking the reins at Manchester United. It was announced this week that Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata will all leave the club as Ten Hag's rebuild begins.

One man who looks like he will be staying for the project next season is Ronaldo. The 37-year-old spoke positively about Ten Hag and wished him well going into the new season - hinting that he will be there to help out.

Although Ten Hag would have enjoyed seeing Ronaldo's show of support, he would not have been so pleased a few hours later. During France's clash with Denmark on Friday night, United centre back Raphael Varane had to be withdrawn through injury.

The Frenchman went down in some discomfort after stretching for the ball. Varane's injury will no doubt play on Ten Hag's mind ahead of the summer transfer window.

Cristiano Ronaldo insists he is still happy at Manchester United and looking forward to working under new manager Erik ten Hag.

United great Ronaldo, 37, scored 24 goals in his first season back at the club after 12 years and could receive his fourth Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award on Saturday.

There have been doubts over Ronaldo's future after United failed to qualify for the Champions League, a competition Ronaldo has played in for 19 successive seasons and won five times. Ronaldo is contracted to United until next year, with the option of an additional year.
