Manchester United transfer news LIVE takeover update plus Mount and Hojlund latest

Manchester United's quest for their first summer signing will continue today.

Personal terms have been agreed with Mason Mount but a fee is yet to be reached with Chelsea for the midfielder. Erik ten Hag has held talks with Rasmus Hojlund but United don't appear to have made a move as of yet.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Jassim has submitted an improved fifth bid for Manchester United, the PA news agency reports.

The club announced in November that the board was exploring strategic alternatives to enhance the club's growth, with a full sale one option being considered.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim both publicly confirmed initial offers in February and the latter is understood to have this week made a fifth bid to acquire United.

There should be more movement in the coming weeks as Manchester United begin to execute their plans for the summer transfer window.

Erik ten Hag has told the board the areas in which he'd like to strengthen his side during the off-season, and now all eyes are on those attempts to try and secure as many top targets as possible.

United's main concern is that the continued uncertainty regarding the future of the club and the ongoing takeover talks have made it much more difficult to plan ahead, with budgets potentially affected by any imminent ownership change.
