The gritty win 1-0 win over Bournemouth yesterday - combined with Liverpool's draw against Aston Villa - ensured Erik ten Hag and his squad took a giant step towards securing Champions League qualification.

The Reds now know that a point against Chelsea on Thursday will see them confirm their place in next season's competition, though they've now got the safety net of knowing they can complete the job against Fulham on the final day of the season if Thursday's result doesn't go their way.

While yesterday's win provided a lot of positives, Ten Hag was once again forced to cope without top goalscorer Marcus Rashford after he was hit with an illness. Marcus Rashford was absent from United's squad to play Bournemouth due to illness.

Rashford missed the 2-0 victory against Wolves last weekend and although he returned to first-team training in midweek, he reported to Carrington on Friday morning with symptoms of sickness.
