Manchester United transfer news LIVE Cristiano Ronaldo latest and Frenkie de Jong updates

It's a new week and it could be an important one for the summer transfer business of Manchester United with two major decisions soon to be made - is Cristiano Ronaldo going to be kept at the club and will the Frenkie de Jong transfer finally happen?

For Ronaldo, he remains away from the team who continue their pre-season tour of Australia. Ronaldo has been linked to Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and former club Sporting Lisbon. However, it appears the market is smaller than many would have anticipated.

For De Jong, the Dutch star has travelled with Barcelona to the United States to begin their pre-season tour.

It appears that De Jong does, for now, intend to stay with the Spanish giants, but will United be able to force their hand and convince the 25-year-old midfielder to move?

Manchester United have confirmed the imminent signing of Lisandro Martinez as part of their summer rebuild under new manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman is keen to pursue targets familiar to him, with United having already signed Feyenoord full-back Tyrell Malacia, while they continue to chase former Ajax ace Frenkie de Jong.

Christian Eriksen's recent signing made him the second new arrival of the Ten Hag era, and Martinez is expected to be the third new recruit after United agreed a fee with Ajax that could reach as much as £55.3million. Martinez is predominantly a centre-back, but that is not the only position he can play.

Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to a viral post suggesting his car was spotted at Sporting Lisbon's stadium amid rumours he could be set to rejoin his former club.
