Manchester United transfer news LIVE Cristiano Ronaldo latest, Vallecano reaction and De Jong to Man Utd updates
Cristiano Ronaldo dominated the headlines both before and after Manchester United's draw with Rayo Vallecano.
Ronaldo started the fixture at Old Trafford and had a chance to give the Reds the lead but he blazed his effort over the crossbar. The 37-year-old would only last 45 minutes due to his lack of pre-season minutes and he would be replaced by Amad.
Before the final whistle blew at the Theatre of Dreams, Ronaldo had left the stadium and could potentially have missed his replacement's instant impact. Alex Telles' long-range effort was parried to Amad who fired home for United.
Rayo Vallecano would level in the 57th minute with Alvaro Garcia Rivera finishing following a Tom Heaton save. Erik ten Hag will now be focused on Sunday and will begin his side's preparations for Brighton and Hove Albion.
