Manchester United told why their Mason Mount deal is better than Arsenal's Declan Rice transfer

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes Mason Mount's goalscoring ability means his move to Old Trafford is better value than Arsenal's swoop for Declan Rice.

The West Ham United captain was previously a target for United in seasons gone by but his price tag of over £100m deterred the Reds from going for him. After leading them to the UEFA Conference League, Rice was declared up for sale by David Sullivan after the defensive midfielder declared he wanted to leave the London Stadium.

With Erik ten Hag's men out of the race, Arsenal and Manchester City battled for his transfer and the Gunners have won the race after a £105m bid was accepted. United strengthened their own midfield this week with the purchase of Mount from Chelsea for £55m plus £5m add-ons.

While Yorke admits it is difficult to compare the childhood best friends, he told BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League odds here the Reds' Mount deal is wiser.
