Homes evacuated as bomb disposal team and armed police scrambled to street

A number of homes have been evacuated as bomb disposal experts assess a house on a street in Fallowfield.

Police cordons are said to be in place on Garswood Road and adjoining Aston Avenue.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed residents living in a number of properties have been asked to leave their homes in line with procedure.

It's believed to follow police executing a warrant at a property on Garswood Road.

Armed police have also been involved, according to one resident.

They claimed police have been posted outside the house since 8pm on Thursday night, but this hasn't been confirmed by GMP.

The resident said searches were carried out on Friday afternoon and the road was later sealed off.

The adjoining houses on Aston Avenue were also reportedly cordoned off as a result. There's been no reports of any injuries.
