Manchester United told their 'biggest issue' that rivals don't have
Chris Sutton believes Manchester United’s midfield is the main reason for Erik ten Hag’s poor start to the season.
United currently have limited central options amid injuries to Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo and Sofyan Amrabat, although the former is now back in training and could be available for Saturday’s trip to Burnley.
Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro were Ten Hag’s first-choice trio last season but have shown areas of weakness when playing together this term. United have had to lean on Scott McTominay and Hannibal Mejbri as substitute options with academy product Dan Gore often being called into the squad.

Sutton said the current midfield options look legless and have lacked creativity in United’s opening matches. “I think Manchester United's problem area, and I say problem area, but the biggest issue Manchester United have is that midfield area," Sutton told the Daily Mail.
“I just do not think they have the legs and dynamism. Look at other teams at the top of the table who do, and that's their biggest issue. Manchester United really can only play counter-attack, and that's their problem.”
Sutton said United’s poor start heaps pressure on this weekend’s trip to Turf Moor and suggested that Ten Hag would be walking a thin line with supporters if his side don't take all three points.
