Manchester United told striker priority amid Rasmus Hojlund interest and Harry Kane links

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes Erik ten Hag should focus his attention entirely on Kylian Mbappe and abandon attempts to sign Harry Kane and Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dane has emerged as United's top striker transfer target this summer given Tottenham Hotspur may not be willing to sell their talisman to a Premier League rival. Previously, chairman Daniel Levy has been reluctant to sell his top asset Kane despite interest from elsewhere.

However, MEN Sport reported owner Joe Lewis had told Levy he must sell Kane this summer or secure him to a new contract so as to avoid him leaving for free at the end of next season. It seems unlikely the England captain will extend his stay in North London beyond 2024.

United are now circling Spurs on the off chance they are forced to sell Kane to a Premier League rival and this in turn has cast doubt over the Hojlund move. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Yorke claimed the Englishman as well as the recently transfer listed Kylian Mbappe should be at the top of Ten Hag's priorities.

He explained: "I think Harry Kane should be prioritised over Rasmus Hojlund. I don't mean disrespect for the kid, he looks like a good player, but Man United don't need potential right now, they need guaranteed goals like what Kane offers.

"Kylian Mbappe is another Man United should be looking at, even if he costs £260m. If anyone in England can afford him, it's Man United. If you want the best attacker in the world and a global superstar in the team, then Man United should abandon
