Manchester United to 'secure' permanent deal for loan signing and more transfer rumours

Sergio Reguilon could complete a permanent switch to Manchester United during the January transfer window if the Tottenham defender keeps on impressing during his loan spell.

That's according to reports from Spanish publication AS as speculation over his future continues to spiral. The one-time Real Madrid left-back has made two appearances for United so far.

Erik ten Hag opted to sign him on deadline day, after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia had left United short in Reguilon's position. He pitched up at Old Trafford a few hours before the 11pm cut-off on September 1 as the club, also, completed late moves for three other players.

Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans and Sofyan Amrabat - another loan signing - were all welcomed through the doors on deadline day. Prior to their arrivals, United spent £180million combined on Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund from Italian side Atalanta to address three key areas within the squad.

United do not have an option or obligation to buy Reguilon next summer. They did, though, insert a break clause in his agreement which means he could return to Tottenham in January if United want.

Elsewhere, reports from The Athletic indicate West Ham are "no longer interested" in resigning former United star Jesse Lingard on a free transfer. The 30-year-old had been training with the London outfit after he was released by fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest this summer.
