Manchester United to assess risk element of Sergio Reguilon injury ahead of Brentford fixture

Manchester United will reassess the risk element of Sergio Reguilon's muscular injury ahead of the home game against Brentford on Saturday.

United have provisionally planned to prepare Reguilon for their weekend fixture and the need for a specialist left-back has become more urgent after two successive home defeats.

Midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has started as an auxiliary left-back in the last two games but was exposed by Crystal Palace and Galatasaray in their wins at Old Trafford.

Amrabat was heavily culpable for Galtasaray's second and third goals in their 3-2 win in the Champions League and Reguilon could be recalled for the vital visit of Brentford.

Reguilon was not involved in team training at United's Carrington training complex on Monday but has conducted individual sessions on the grass as he continues his recovery from an apparent hamstring injury sustained in the win at Burnley on September 23.

The on-loan Tottenham defender has missed United's last three games and Amrabat has filled in at left-back in all three.

United do not play for two weeks after the Brentford fixture due to the October internationals, which is likely to have a bearing on any risk assessment of Reguilon's injury.

Manager Ten Hag admitted United's left-hand side was an issue during their porous performance against Galatasaray. "There are no excuses. Maybe we have a little unbalance [on the] left side but we can't make the errors we are making. We have to do better, we have to win our games."
