Manchester United takeover news live Sir Jim Ratcliffe latest and Nottingham Forest vs Man Utd build up

Manchester United have one eye on the January transfer window after investment headed-up by INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe was formalised on Christmas Eve. However, it could still be a quiet month for them when it comes to incomings - with that purchase subject to ratification from the Premier League.

United do not expect to make too many significant additions owing to lingering FFP caution. Any major deal they do decide to make, though, will need consultation from INEOS Group.

Several first-team players could be moved on with Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial among those available if a reasonable offer comes in. United insist that no player will be forced to depart, though, as Donny van de Beek prepares to join Eintracht Frankfurt on an initial loan deal when the market reopens.

Speculation over Varane is rife, meanwhile, as former club Real Madrid are tipped to encounter competition from Bayern Munich for his signature. Elsewhere, there are claims United and other potential suitors might have to shell out £130m to sign Portugal midfielder Joao Neves from Benfica in the future.

A 241-page document containing the finer details of the partial takeover of the club by Ratcliffe — which is subject to Premier League ratification — was released on Tuesday night.

The agreement was discovered in that document.
