Man City plans after Mateo Kovacic may not please transfer obsessives

It is just over two weeks since Manchester City's season ended with the Treble and already the transfer obsessives are furious.

Most City fans are of course interested to know how the squad will shape up next year but a certain section of 'support' online are restless as they shout for demands on who Txiki Begiristain will be ushering in and out of the Etihad doors this summer. In the endless and fruitless quest to get everything they want when they want it, these people spend their days arguing with 'fans' of other clubs about who is having the better window and spend their nights abusing journalists who don't give them the updates they are chasing.

This isn't obviously a City-specific issue but the specifics of City's transfer business means there is even less chance of satisfaction at this stage of the window. Mateo Kovacic will be announced imminently on an initial £25m from Chelsea and should prove to be a very useful squad player, although attention is fixed on bigger things.

The reality at the minute is that those bigger things have not happened (I know, two weeks since the season ended and City haven't completed all of their signings for next year!) There have been no clauses activated as there was for Erling Haaland, and those deals usually require more time.

Unlike with Haaland, there is no obvious need to bring in any particular player. Whereas they had been without a No.9 for two years, this squad have just won the Treble.
