Manchester United takeover news LIVE Sheikh Jassim 'growing' in confidence and staff 'concerns'

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's confidence of completing a takeover at Manchester United was reportedly 'growing' yesterday.

The Qatari, who lodged a fifth and improved bid for United last week, is now considered as the favourite by some to complete a takeover at Old Trafford and oust the Glazers from office. His Nine Two Holdings Limited was officially registered as a company within the UK on Thursday, increasing expectation levels that a deal could be close to being agreed.

However, those suggestions have been played down by those close to the long-running saga, insisting that nothing is close to being agreed or finalised. The Glazers put United up for sale back in November and the situation is still showing no signs of reaching its conclusion.

United supporters' frustrations have now reached an all-time high and reports suggesting that the Glazers will still be at the helm by the time next season kicks-off have infuriated many. The whole saga needs bringing to a close, one way or another, sooner rather than later.

United are long-term admirers of the West Ham United star but simply do not have the finances right now to compete with Arsenal and Manchester City for a player valued at at least £100million. Erik ten Hag wants to add a world-class midfielder and striker to his side this summer after qualifying for the Champions League, though it is hard to see how they would be able to do so in their current state.
