United's defence played admirably despite missing Harry Maguire through injury. In the end, Erik ten Hag's team were more than deserving of a point.

With a week to go until Christmas Day, the supporters may be hoping for an early present in the form of progress on the INEOS arrival. Sir Jim Ratcliffe was expected to arrive in November but further delays have stalled the process.

It is still expected the British billionaire will take on a 25 per cent stake in the club and shall be responsible for the football project at Old Trafford. His colleagues Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc are also expected to take hands-on jobs.
