Manchester United take next steps in Ineos revolution as 'approach' for director of football made
Manchester United have reportedly 'approached' Southampton director of football Jason Wilcox.
Reports emerged in February that United were prepared to wait to appoint Dan Ashworth after baulking at Newcastle United's £10million price tag for their sporting director. The former Brighton and West Brom man is currently on gardening leave from the Magpies with Ineos willing to wait for him to serve this, if required.
But despite there currently being an impasse on Ashworth's potential move to Old Trafford, that has not stopped Ineos from continuing with their planned restructuring of United's footballing operations. And an official approach has now been reportedly made for Wilcox who would be part of any prospective restructure under Ashworth.

Sky Sports claim that the Red Devils have made an offer equivalent to a year of his salary with United said to believe that this meets a buyout clause in his contract. However, it is claimed that Southampton do not believe this to be the case.
It is said that the Saints are 'angered' at the approach being made amid their Championship promotion push and value him at more in compensation. It is claimed, however, that United believe they have been 'respectful' and have 'followed correct processes' in their pursuit.
The report adds that Southampton are 'prepared' to agree a fee with United for Wilcox but there is currently said to be an impasse over the money required to prise him away from St Mary's.
Wilcox is admired by people at Ineos and worked closely with United's new chief executive Omar Berrada at Manchester
