Manchester United sweat over Rasmus Hojlund fitness as Bruno Fernandes accused of ‘disrespect’

Manchester United will assess a number of injured players this week ahead of Sunday’s Premier League trip to Goodison Park.

Rasmus Hojlund backed out of Denmark’s internationals with a strain and his availability for the weekend is in the balance. Fellow countryman Christian Eriksen also missed this week’s Euro 2024 qualifiers and will be out for another three weeks with a knee setback.

Andre Onana’s fitness is ambiguous after being ruled out of Cameroon’s latest match although Marcus Rashford raised hopes after featuring late on in England’s draw with North Macedonia. Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes has been criticised for one area of his United captaincy.

United have not been short of injury issues this season and Erik ten Hag would be forgiven for watching the international football from behind his sofa.

United suffered two fresh injury blows before the November break had even kicked off, having seen Danish duo Hojlund and Eriksen pick up knocks in the 1-0 win over Luton Town. That misery was compounded last Friday as Ten Hag saw both Rashford and Onana forced off for their respective countries. The November international fixtures are now coming to a close and Ten Hag is starting to welcome players back to Manchester.
