Man City get injury boost as 21 players train ahead of RB Leipzig Champions League fixture

Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic were back in Manchester City training and could be in contention to return against RB Leipzig on Tuesday.

Grealish missed the weekend's draw with Liverpool through illness, while Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes joined Kevin De Bruyne on the injury list. With a threadbare bench, Pep Guardiola didn't make a substitution as City were held to a draw, but Grealish's return to training could offer a different option in the Champions League this week.

City are already through to the Champions League last-16, but can confirm top spot and a more favourable draw with a point against second-placed RB Leipzig. Normally, Guardiola would make changes for a game like this, but may be limited with a lack of personnel.

When City trained on Monday, Grealish took his place in the squad, but Nunes remained absent. John Stones trained having made his return to the bench at the weekend, however Guardiola says he still needs time to get back to full strength and may only be considered off the bench for a few minutes, if at all.

Kevin De Bruyne remains out until after the New Year, with no other notable absentees in training on Monday.

Man City training squad vs RB Leipzig:

Ederson, Ortega, Carson, Dias, Ake, Akanji, Stones, Walker, Gvardiol, Lewis, Gomez, Rodri, Phillips, Kovacic, Bernardo, Grealish,Foden, Bobb, Alvarez, Doku, Haaland.
