Lisandro Martinez update and other things spotted in Man United training before Bayern Munich

Manchester United will have to be on top form to outsmart Bayern Munich in Tuesday’s must-win Champions League clash.

Even ending Bayern’s 39-game group stage unbeaten run in the competition may not guarantee qualification to the knockouts should there be a winner between Copenhagen and Galatasaray. Only a draw between them coupled with a win for United would see the Reds through to the last-16.

Lisandro Martinez was seen back on the Carrington grass as he continues his recovery from a long-term foot injury. He is not expected back until January at the earliest after requiring a second round of surgery on a recurring metatarsal issue first picked up in April.

The Argentine was seen going through individual training away from the main group but is now running again in what is an encouraging sign for Erik ten Hag. Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans have all played in the left centre-back slot in his absence.

An hour earlier, Ten Hag had cast doubt over Lindelof’s availability against Bayern Munich after the Sweden captain missed the defeat to Bournemouth with an unspecified issue. However, he was seen treading the turf with his teammates on Monday, which comes as a boost.
