Manchester United squad ‘shocked and appalled’ after Mason Greenwood’s arrest

Mason Greenwood’s Manchester United team-mates are said to be ‘shocked and appalled’ after images and audio clips that led to the striker being arrested on Sunday surfaced online.

The 20-year-old was released on bail pending further investigation on Wednesday after spending three nights in prison.

Greenwood was detained on suspicion of assault and rape, and he was further arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of threats to kill and sexual assault.

While Greenwood is yet to be charged, many of his team-mates appear to have unfollowed the England international on social media after seeing the images and hearing the clips released by a young woman.

And the Daily Mail report that a number of Greenwood’s team-mates are ‘shocked and appalled’ at what they saw on social media.

United are not unaccustomed to dealing with off-the-field issues given their status as the world’s biggest club but a source admits they’re facing an altogether different situation.

‘Everyone is very shaken up,’ a source told the Daily Mail. This is very different to the normal things they have to deal with.’
