Manchester United set for transfer blow as AC Milan strike '£30m agreement'
Manchester United are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Club Brugge midfielder Ardon Jashari after holding talks with his representatives.
The 22-year-old was on United's shopping list this summer with The Manchester Evening News previously reporting that part of Ruben Amorim's plan is to recruit a new midfielder following Christian Eriksen's departure as a free agent.
AC Milan moved ahead of the competition by reportedly submitting a bid of around £21.3million, plus approximately £4.3m in add-ons, while Brugge were said to be holding out for a package closer to £34m (€40m).
A new update from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato details Milan's agreement with Brugge for the midfielder. It’s said that Jashari has signed a five-year contract worth €2.5million (£2.1m) after nearly two months of negotiations.
Brugge are believed to have agreed on a fee of €34m (£30m), plus an additional €3m (£2m) in bonuses. Only the payment structure remains to be finalised between the two parties.
Manchester City had reportedly also considered a move for the Belgian Jupiler Pro League Player of the Year before finalising the £46.3m signing of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan.
Borussia Dortmund were also linked before securing the high-profile signing of Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain were said to have made enquiries about the talented youngster while advances from both Fulham and West Ham were rejected.
Reports claim that Jashari was holding out for a club that can offer Champions League football - something Fulham, West Ham, and United cannot.
