Manchester United sent Youri Tielemans midfield message amid transfer links

Manchester United have been told that signing Youri Tielemans is not enough to solve their problem in the middle of the pitch.

The Belgian's future continues to be a talking point at the King Power Stadium with his current deal due to expire next summer.

United have highlighted the middle of the pitch as a 'big problem' and one they're going to look to improve this summer with Declan Rice among the targets.

But former right-back Paul Parker isn't convinced by 24-year-old Tielemans, insisting they need more than one addition in midfield.

He told MyBettingSites: "He's [Youri Tielemans] quite inconsistent, to be perfectly honest. Scorer of a few good goals. He hasn't really caught me, however.

"Man Utd need more than that [Tielemans]. It's not just going to be one midfield player.

"If they go and sign a top central midfield player, his first question should be - 'who do you sign to compliment me?' And the other person should be saying exactly the same and then go - 'yes'.

"If a player signs for Man Utd now and they ask that question and the club says - 'no, just you', then that player should suddenly go - 'no, I think it needs more.' That's what he should say, he can't do it all on his own."

Tielemans wrote himself in Foxes folklore when he rifled in the winning goal against Chelsea in the FA Cup final in May, whilst United fans know about his qualities after he scored in their 4-2 win over United, earlier in the campaign.
