Man City 'closing in' on signing Brazilian wonderkid and more transfer rumours
Manchester City are closing-in on signing Brazilian starlet Savinho from Atletico Minero - according to reports.
City have established a strong reputation for bringing in top talents from South America.
That comes as a result of work done by the City Football Group (CFG) and Gabriel Jesus started the process from Brazil when he touched down at the Etihad Stadium in 2017.
Other players to have made that same move are Douglas Luiz, Diego Rosa, Yan Couto and Kayky.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions are set to continue the trend with Savinho and are edging towards being able to confirm that signing - having launched an official bid to his current club earlier in the week.
The 17-year-old is expected to command an initial fee around the €6.5million mark.
Naturally for such a highly-rated prospect, there will be countless add-ons in any would-be deal and confirmation will be pending Savinho undergoing a medical and signing the necessary paperwork.
Elsewhere, manager Pep Guardiola wants to strengthen his options by signing Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto.
Roberto, 30, has long-since been linked with a switch to the Etihad Stadium and Fichajes previously reported that City were set to launch a £41.7million bid for his services. However, the Spaniard is out of contract this summer and would be available on a free transfer at that stage.
Capped 11 times by the Spanish national team, the La Masia graduate has been used sparingly this season, mostly due to a long-standing hamstring problem.
