Ex-Manchester United player explains why Diego Simeone would never move to Old Trafford

After Roy Keane suggested he would love to see Diego Simeone appointed as the new Manchester United manager, one of his former teammates has explained exactly why it would never happen.

Keane recently said that the Argentine would instil discipline into the United set-up following reports of unrest within the squad. The former United captain said: “Simeone, go and get him, he's a big character.

"He's done great things. He's a great character, a big personality. He doesn't mess around with players. Maybe someone like him coming into the club could work.”

But former dressing room colleague Paul Parker has rejected the suggestion, claiming Simeone would be too much for United.

Speaking to bettingexpert, he said: “His demands would be too much for the club, because he wants to win things. He doesn’t want to go to Manchester United and just go through a process of what everyone else is.

"His people and himself would ask, ‘what are you going to do to help him trying to win this league? What are you going to do differently from the previous five or six managers with this one?’

“And Manchester United are either going to come up and stick to what they have been doing or they are going to lie and kid into what he’s going to do. I can’t see that happening. If that happens, that means there has been a big shift in what Manchester United are trying to do and what they want to do.”

Parker and Keane played alongside each other at United in the mid-90s, winning a Premier League title and an FA Cup together. The former defender agreed with Keane in saying that United need a figure who can bring discipline to the club.

Parker continued: “The one thing
