Manchester United sent Marcus Rashford transfer message as time runs out in frustrating talks

The January transfer window is coming to a close, with a "new challenge" for Marcus Rashford looking increasingly unlikely with a limited number of suitable moves for the forward - and Manchester United fans in the Manchester Evening News comments section have been left frustrated by how a difficult situation has been handled.

In December 2024, Rashford gave his now-infamous "ready for a new challenge" interview to the journalist Henry Winter, sparking speculation over his immediate future and how United would respond to his seemingly inevitable departure. A move has not materialised, with nothing firm to go on, and it seems that club and player will have to decide how to move forward with the rest of the season.

Rashford has been left at the fringes of the squad, with Ruben Amorim blaming training performances, but there is no disciplinary issue to handle. The manager has demanded change on the training pitch, saying: "We are waiting for Marcus, if he wants it really really bad. You try to make it something personal but it’s not personal.
