Micah Richards breaks silence on Roy Keane incident after Arsenal vs Manchester United

Micah Richards insists he is 'not allowed' to talk about an incident in which Roy Keane was allegedly headbutted after Arsenal's win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Richards and Keane were on punditry duty for Sky Sports during United's Super Sunday clash with Arsenal, a game Erik ten Hag's side eventually lost 3-1 in dramatic fashion after late goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus. Video footage shared on social media appeared to show the pair involved in an altercation with a man after the game.

On Monday, the Metropolitan Police said a 42-year-old man had been taken into custody after being arrested on suspicion of assault.

Speaking on Monday's edition of The Rest Is Football podcast, fellow pundit Gary Lineker opened the show by mentioning the incident. He said: "One of us had an interesting weekend. Micah, you were in the news?"

Richards responded: "Oh my word. Gary, I'm not allowed to talk about it." Lineker then asked if it was due to the ongoing investigation.

"Exactly," Richards said, "but when I am allowed to talk about it, The Rest Is Football will get it first."

Former striker Alan Shearer made light of the issue, saying: "I think the common opinion is don't f*** with Big Meeks!" However, Richards declined to comment, adding: "No comment. I plead the fifth!"

Keen to wrap up the conversation, Lineker said: "It is not something we should trivialise because it is a serious matter and we will wait until the police investigation is done until we discuss that story further."
