Manchester United see Benjamin Pavard bid 'rejected' and other transfer rumours

Manchester United have reportedly had a bid for Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard rejected.

United want to sign a new defender if their former captain Harry Maguire leaves the club this summer. Earlier this week, the Reds accepted a bid from West Ham for the England international.

One of the names linked with a move to Old Trafford is Bayern defender Pavard. According to Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, United have had their first offer knocked back by the Bavarian club.

It is believed that Pavard is interested in a move to Old Trafford and a verbal agreement in principle has been reached between the two parties.

Elsewhere, there could be one final twist in the Maguire transfer saga. Football Transfers is reporting Aston Villa will make a last-gasp attempt to sign United's centre-back. While the Hammers are the favourites to complete the Maguire deal, Unai Emery is on the lookout for a central defender at short notice.

The transfer window is in full swing and United have got their hands on three players well in advance of the September 1 deadline, with Rasmus Hojlund joining Mason Mount and Andre Onana at Old Trafford.

A goalkeeper, a midfielder and a striker were Erik ten Hag's priorities heading into the summer window, but that doesn't mean their business ends here, with a move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat also on the cards, as well as plenty of possible departures, including Harry Maguire to West Ham.
