"She knows she will get a lot of abuse": Mother of murdered toddler WILL be welcomed back after prison, says grandfather... but not by all

The mother of a murdered toddler who is behind bars will be welcomed back by her grandfather when she completes her prison sentence - but other family members may not follow his example.

Frankie Smith, 22, is in New Hall Prison at Flockton, near Huddersfield, and was jailed for 12 years for causing or allowing the death of her 16-month-old daughter, who was kicked or punched to death by Frankie's violent partner Savannah Brockhill. Frankie is halfway through her sentence and is expected to be released on licence in September 2026 after serving half of the 12 years, reports YorkshireLive.

Nightclub bouncer Brockhill was jailed for a minimum of 25 years for murdering Star Hobson at their home in Keighley, West Yorkshire, on September 2020.

Now, Mr Fawcett, a 63-year-old postman, says few of Frankie's family have stood by her. His partner Anita, Frankie's grandmother, won't speak to her and cannot bring herself to look at photos or videos of Star as she finds it too upsetting.

Mr Fawcett, of Baildon, Bradford, places the blame for Star's death firmly on Brockhill and calls her 'the monster'.

He is supporting Frankie during her time inside and said: "I went to see her (Frankie) last Tuesday and am going next Thursday. There's only me - a lot of the family don't bother with her. She really has only got me to support her.

"She is doing okay. She won't be the same because she has lost Star - she is absolutely devastated over losing Star. She says 'I know a lot of people are blaming me and saying it was my fault', but she says it's just awful how things have turned out."
