Manchester United's hopes of beating Newcastle will rely on one player

Erik ten Hag might have some difficulty deciding on his Manchester United side for their trip to face Newcastle this weekend. It is obvious something has to change after the nature of their latest collapse in midweek, but there was also some encouragement in how they started the game.

It counts for nothing now, but there is still an argument that if not for Andre Onana's awful night, they could quite easily have won the game and put themselves on the verge of the knockout stages.

For those reasons, there is little reason to rip things up and start again. United twice had a two-goal lead in the match and were largely the better side. Yet, it wasn't a one-off, freaky occurrence. There are clearly underlying issues to solve.
