Manchester United's bargain transfer will give them £21m boost over Liverpool

Manchester United may have the chance to get a better deal than Liverpool with their next transfer.

United have been heavily linked with a host of players in recent weeks as the summer transfer window rolls on. Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee remain the only new signings to arrive at Old Trafford this summer, but there is still plenty of time for that to change.

Erik ten Hag's side will face Manchester City in the Community Shield this weekend before hosting Fulham next week in the first Premier League fixture of the season. Amid the build-up to the new season, United are continuing to be linked with adding new signings to their squad before the September 2 deadline.

Midfield is an area of the squad that United are seemingly keen to strengthen. Reports in recent days have stated that Burnley star Sander Berge is a target for the Reds, with initial talks being held between the two clubs.

Berge is the latest midfielder to emerge as a possible target for United this summer. Monaco star Youssouf Fofana, Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte and Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi have been linked with moves to Old Trafford.

Reports emerged on Wednesday claiming that Liverpool are confident of completing a deal to sign Zubimendi. The Sociedad midfielder is thought to have a €60 million (£51.65million) release clause in his contract, but United could be about to get a financial advantage over their rivals.
