Manchester United may be 'forced' to pay £21m to agree Jadon Sancho exit

Manchester United could be forced to purchase Juventus' unwanted winger Federico Chiesa if they wish to part company with Jadon Sancho this summer.

Sancho has had an interesting few months. At first, it seemed as though the winger would definitely be sold upon his return from Borussia Dortmund, but Erik ten Hag insisted the hatchet had been buried between the pair and did use the forward during the pre-season tour of the United States.

MEN Sport understands that Sancho could be allowed to leave the Reds this summer so long as their £40m valuation has been met. Juventus have been one of the teams linked with him, but according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, they are being blocked from completing a deal while Chiesa remains on their books.

Barcelona and Premier League clubs are thought to be looking at the 26-year-old as we enter the final week of the transfer window. But as of yet, nobody has been willing to pay Chiesa's £8m salary.

It is believed Juve would also only like to sign Sancho on loan with an option to buy him next summer. However, should United be willing to purchase Chiesa as part of a deal to allow Sancho to leave, the Italian club may be open to purchasing the Englishman permanently.

Chiesa is believed to be valued at approximately £21m by Juventus. When asked on Saturday why Sancho was not in the team, Ten Hag responded: "He's here. I had a choice to make and we had some issues.

"We need a full squad and he is one of them. He has to compete for his position and from game to game, we will have a look. In the squad, we need every position double because it's going to be a long season."
