Manchester United 'pushing ahead with Diogo Costa transfer' and other rumours

Manchester United are reportedly pushing ahead with a deal to sign Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

The 23-year-old Portuguese international enjoyed a sensational season conceding just 30 goals in 41 appearances and keeping 20 clean sheets in total. Erik ten Hag has claimed he is confident current number one David de Gea will sign a new deal to keep him at Old Trafford beyond this month.

However, the manager has refused to commit to keeping De Gea as first choice beyond this campaign. With Jack Butland set to return to Crystal Palace in the summer, the Reds will be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper and according to A Bola they have found their man.

It is claimed Costa is 'on the verge' of a career leap to the Premier League and United are the team who lead the way for his signature. The shot-stopper is contracted to Porto until 2027 and should the Reds wish to sign him, they will have to pay his release clause of €75m.

Elsewhere, United have reportedly 'come back strong' for a transfer target from last summer. According to Corriere dello Sport, Ten Hag has thrown his hat back into the ring for Juventus' Adrien Rabiot.

MEN Sport reported last year United were in talks with Rabiot but a deal to bring the Frenchman to the Premier League broke down. Eventually, the Reds turned their attention to Casemiro who signed instead.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a good season in Serie A, scoring 11 goals and this has peaked United's interest again. It is understood his exit from Turin is more likely than him staying but Newcastle will compete for his signature too.
