Manchester United prospect Hannibal lands end-of-season Birmingham award ahead of return

Manchester United prospect Hannibal has been awarded Birmingham City's goal of the season award after his stunning strike against West Bromwich Albion.

The 20-year-old has spent the campaign away from Old Trafford at the Championship side. It has been his first spell away from United and the maiden loan stint of his career.

In that time, he has racked up 40 appearances in all competitions for John Eustace's side. Birmingham are clear of the Championship drop zone, sitting 17th at present, and conclude their campaign on Monday when they host promoted Sheffield United at St Andrew's when the regular season in the division concludes.

Hannibal is poised to return to United this summer, when he is tied down for the long-term. The Tunisia international has a contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2026.

The midfielder is prepped to play the final game of his loan spell on Monday before leaving the Championship side. But ahead of his departure, he has been given an accolade to cap off a promising individual campaign in the second tier of English football.

Hannibal has been awarded Birmingham's goal of the season for his fabulous free-kick in the 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in February. It is his only strike of his campaign thus far, but was quite the effort, bending the ball around the wall with his right boot and hitting the back of the net.

Speaking at the time to Sky Sports after scoring his first senior goal in men's football, he said: "It was a great game first, a great derby and I [also] had the chance to score. I am very happy, the atmosphere was really nice and I have to enjoy the moment.''
