Manchester United players told what they need to do to help Rasmus Hojlund this season

Former striker Teddy Sheringham has said that new signing Rasmus Hojlund will need the support of his Manchester United teammates this season.

The Denmark international, 20, joined United from Atalanta almost a fortnight ago for an initial fee of £64million. The Reds reached an agreement with Atalanta a week earlier for a deal worth £72m, with £8m of that fee to be paid in add-ons.

Hojlund has arrived at United still nursing an injury that he suffered during pre-season with his former club, meaning he is not yet ready to make his debut for United. He watched Monday night's opener against Wolves at Old Trafford from the directors' box.

United sources have said that his recovery is going well and that he is expected to be sidelined for just a few weeks. It remains to be seen if he will be ready to make his United bow ahead of the first international break of the season next month.

Regardless of when he makes his debut, however, United will be hoping the youngster can be the answer to their goalscoring problems. The Reds prioritised the addition of a striker this summer, meaning there is going to be a lot of pressure loaded on young shoulders.

With that in mind, former United ace Sheringham thinks it will be vital that Hojlund is supported by his new teammates to help him settle into life in England.
